Why Even Consider Buying A Two-Seat Ridge Runner?

THE CONCEPT….

The Ridge Runner was engineered to take the challenges of back country to the next level.  Ridge Runner performance really raises the bar for cruise speed, maneuverability, ruggedness, versatility, and range, especially in the off-road/backcountry environments.  You can do more, do it better and enjoy it in greater comfort with a two-seat Ridge Runner.  Turn any dirt road or open field into your own roadmap for adventure.

Technically, Ridge Runner maximizes and enhances the most pronounced strengths and benefits of ATVs, Quads, Tube Cars, Jeeps and Dune Buggies, without giving up any of the intensity of enjoyment you can derive from each one.  You’ll still have the wind in your face, the rush of varied terrain flying by, and the incredible sense of freedom that comes with knowing that now you can go almost anywhere you want.  And when the day (or night) is done, you’ll be left with a feeling of exhilaration that borders on euphoria.  If it got any better, it would have to be a controlled substance.

A SUSPENSION SYSTEM DESIGNED FOR UNPARALLELED OFF-ROAD COMFORT….

The individual suspension for each wheel, cushioned by Fox Racing air shocks, and coupled with the incredibly wide range of wheel travel, exceeds the performance of all other Off Highway Vehicles (OHVs).  The fact that the wheel base and track is also greater than anything else out there, significantly enhances the Ridge Runner’s stability.

With that long, wide wheel base, and unequalled 18” of chassis clearance, the Ridge Runner can claw its way up over sharper ridges and larger boulders or logs than anything else in its class.  At the same time that the four wheels jitterbug over rocks and logs, the frame just glides along, barely responding to what’s beneath it.  That translates into long-term, high level comfort and far greater endurance for you and your passenger.

So, visualize yourself entering the back country: you go into it in your Ridge Runner while your friends ride along on their conventional ATVs.  You’ll clear objects they can’t get over (without flipping) and you’ll ride faster on extreme terrain.  You’ll tackle stuff they can only dream about.  You’ll ride in comfort and for a lot longer than they will.  You’ll carry the food/beverage cooler, extra gas and much more than they can.  They’ll have to stop to talk to someone; you can talk to your companion while you’re driving.  And when you finish the excursion, you’ll be ready to party, they’ll be ready for bed.

A CHASSIS DESIGNED FOR ENHANCED SAFETY….

Extensive engineering went into the design of the steel tube chassis in a Ridge Runner.  It’s a study in overkill.  It’s the ultimate R&R: Rugged & Reliable.  But then, given the suicidal snarling and throbbing throttles of some "wanna-be race drivers" out there, it had to be built to withstand some of the most creative and destructive driving ever inspired by the back country.  And yeah, some day, some hot shot will likely find a way to flip one over, but with the roll bar in place, and seat belts and double shoulder harnesses latched, it’s almost certainly going to be a non-event.  Truth is, it takes a real death wish to bend it.  Unless you want to try skydiving with it or play “chicken” with a semi, you’re not going to wreck it.

Aside from the two contoured, luxuriously padded seats, and the tail light lenses, both of which are located inside the durable steel frame for protection, there is no plastic to crack or shatter.  There will be no fenders to replace.  The only possible contact points with a Ridge Runner are made of rubber (tires) or steel (chassis).

RIDER COMFORT…ERGONOMICS REDEFINED….

Those side-by-side seats, by the way, are contoured and padded for long trips.  Having back support really increases your endurance.  With the eight-gallon gas tank you can ride for about eight hours in the back country without feeling exhausted or sore at the end of the trail.  Add the optional cargo deck, strap on a five-gallon gas can and you can go all day and deep into the night.  Even though the Ridge Runner’s frame has 18 inches of ground clearance, the seats sit so low in the frame that your center of gravity is lower than on an ATV, Quad, or jeep.  Your eyeballs will be 17 inches lower in a Ridge Runner than on a standard ATV.  Being closer to the ground gives you more of a sense of speed…like the “immersion effect” of shooting whitewater rapids in a kayak.

POSITIVE CONTROL IN THE FIELD OF VISIONS….

Vectoring the Ridge Runner with its rack & pinion steering wheel gives you a better feel for directional control.  That round steering wheel is not going to be jerked out of your hands like handlebars can.  It handles like a Backwoods Ferrari.  Throttle control is maintained with a foot pedal and braking is only a dance step away from the gas.  The pedals are adjustable to accommodate leg lengths from Holly Hunter to NBA stars (well, almost…they move nearly 7” forward or back).

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL….

You start your Ridge Runner with a key, located on a small instrument panel next to the single round-faced VDO instrument cluster that gives a steady flow of information: RPM, speed (in mph or kph), odometer, trip odometer, hour meter, engine service light, battery indicator, and fuel gauge with “empty”, “full” and five intermediate ticks.  Alongside the switches and instrument cluster, there is a space on the panel to secure your E-Trek style GPS.

WITH THE RUSH OF POWER....

The Ridge Runner feature a 697 cc, two-cylinder, four stroke, liquid-cooled engine with an automatic transmission.  Equipped with a high and low range transfer case, that includes park and reverse, it has enough power to enter the “Wow!” zone.  So, there’s no clutch, but there is a gear shift lever very conveniently located just in front of the seats that can be used to shift from Low to High range in the transfer case, as well as for shifting into Reverse or Park.  The engine develops enough torque to accelerate like the Endeavor.

STATIC ENERGY….

Look at it.  Standing still, engine at idle, there is a vibrant potential for blowing away the Suit of the Common Man.  You can almost hear the silver trumpets.

So now, visualize the trail: hills, ridges, boulders, logs, streams, mud holes, fields without trails, steep hills….  Start up…the engine snarls with life, signaling vitriolic power!  Hammer that gas pedal, enjoying the instantaneous surge…stripping away everything but the rush and challenge of emerging terrain.  This is a super quiet machine that won’t frighten the wildlife or offend hikers.  It truly loosens the limits…creates new edges.  The high frame clearance and extended wheelbase let you fly over obstacles and climb rock piles that would stop or flip a Quad or Jeep in their own shadow.  And the best part of it all is that you get to share it with your best friend…right beside you.  Have an ATV revelation: test drive the exciting Ridge Runner.  You’ll never forget it.  Never!
